Come party on the Fourth of July in Hawaii Kai at the second annual Independence Day at Maunalua Bay. This community event celebrating freedom, family and friends takes place in Maunalua Bay Beach Park from 2 to 9 p.m. with a spectacular fireworks show at 8 p.m. from a barge offshore. The afternoon includes continuous entertainment with Maunalua as headliners, food, free keiki ID and face painting plus other activities. Ramsay Wharton of KGMB-TV’s morning Sunrise show will be emcee.

Sponsored by Independence Day at Maunalua Bay Foundation, this is a grass-roots, all-volunteer event with wide community support. Even in the downturn economy, businesses have stepped forward to support IDMB.
Pacific International Realty is a major donor for the second year as a $5,000 Platinum sponsor. Owner Melanie Long also is president of the IDMBF and chair of the July 4th event.

Outback Steakhouse Hawaii Kai is this year’s Diamond Sponsor with more than $10,000. Owner Tyler Roukema sponsored two fund-raising dinners at his restaurant with proceeds benefitting IDMB. The second dinner is scheduled for the month of June.
